What do you recommend for solo travellers in Cappadocia?

Cappadocia is an area frequented by backpackers and people who like to get off the beaten track. There are numerous hiking trails for the traveller who prefers their own company and likes to explore for themselves. If you would rather meet like-minded people then you could opt to take part in an organised tour that will allow you the freedom of exploration at the same time as being part of a group.

There are many organised walking tours available in Cappadocia and you are sure to find yourself among kindred spirits. In the evenings there are many quaint restaurants and bars that encourage solo travellers and provide a safe atmosphere. You may even like to attend a Turkish Night where you can relax knowing that you will be safely transferred to and from the venue as well as being party to a great evening out.

Is there much to do in Cappadocia for families with younger children?

Whilst Cappadocia is mostly visited for its history there is plenty to keep the kids occupied too. They are sure to get lost in the fantasy of the fairy chimneys and enjoy visiting the underground cities. They may enjoy a trip to the Valley of Imagination where the rock formations provide an excellent basis for a game of the imagination.

A great way to visit these places is by a 4×4 vehicle and there are Jeep Safaris that run daily. The kids will love going on their very own adventure!

What can I do in the winter in Cappadocia?

One of the many advantages of Cappadocia is the fact that it is visited by travellers all year round and as such you will find that there is as much to do in the winter as in the summer. In fact, visiting in winter will allow you to explore without the blistering heat and it may even suit you better!

Of course it can get quite chilly in those underground caverns come winter and you would be advised to make sure you have warm clothing for your visit. A great way to keep warm on the cooler winter days is a visit to the mud bath with its thermal pools that will warm you to the bone.

Whilst you can explore or take part in many different excursions in the daytime you may find that come the evening you would like some entertainment inside in the warm. Bars and restaurants are most welcoming in the winter as they light their fires and there is a cosiness that is rarely found during the summer months.

You could attend a Turkish night or take in the spectacular of the Whirling Dervishes and enjoy the festivities or simply enjoy an evening with some mulled wine looking out over the valleys.

Are there any ‘alternative’ tours available in Cappadocia?

If you are looking to do something new and interesting you could spend a few hours exploring Cappadocia in a classic car. It is a great feeling to ride with the top down in a classic car and indeed you may feel like a movie star. Of course if you are looking for a little more adventure there can be nothing better than a ride in a hot air balloon.

Whilst this isn’t essentially ‘alternative’ it really is a must do activity and quite possibly a once in a lifetime experience.

Do you recommend anything for couples looking to spend a romantic evening?

Cappadocia boasts some of the most spectacular scenery and the ‘fairy chimneys’ themselves make this one for the best places for romance! Why not spend an evening in one of the many authentic restaurants or take a hike to watch the sun set over the rock formations as it casts its rusty glow over the landscape?

If you prefer to have everything organised for you, you could join the sunset tour where you will be treated to a late afternoon of wine tasting before watching the sun dip below the volcanic monoliths.

How is Cappadocia nightlife?

If you have had enough of visiting historical places of interest and you are looking to let down your hair, you will find a little of something for everyone in Cappadocia. There are romantic rooftop terraces, cave restaurants and nightclubs banging out the latest music.

You will find a wide choice of Turkish Bars with live music too! Of course if you like to have a little entertainment you could go to see the Whirling Dervishes or attend a traditional Turkish Night. Whatever you choose to do, you are sure to have lots of fun!
