Gocek Market Boat Trip From Fethiye

  Last Updated: March 26, 2024

Göcek Market Tour with a visit to the market is an unusual excursion with a boat trip to one of the most beautiful places in South-West Turkey. One of the hidden gems of the Mediterranean coastline is the small town of Göcek, located between Dalyan and Fethiye. It is renowned for its 12 islands, also known as the Paradise Islands, and its sheltered and picturesque semi-circular harbour, which has become the centre of attraction for many yachtsmen around the world.

Many of the world’s top celebrities like to come here. Many travellers appreciate Göcek for its quietness compared to Marmaris or Fethiye. We suggest that you take a trip to these places. In the morning, your driver will pick you up from your hotel and you will go to the port, where a comfortable double-deck yacht ‘tekne’ will be waiting for you.

During the boat ride you will have the chance to swim in the pristine waters and at the best beaches. Afterwards you will take a stroll around town and head for the local shops and Sunday market. There you will find everything from dried fruit and nuts to the freshest fruit and vegetables, from cheese to sausages, from souvenirs and haberdashery to clothes and manufactured goods.

Your guide will accompany you throughout the day, telling you about the history of the places and the culture of this part of Turkey. On the return journey, you will pass again by the most beautiful islands of the Mediterranean. After the boat takes you to Fethiye harbour, the driver will take you back to your hotel. Both transfers, the boat ride and the accompanying guide are included in the price of this tour. We arrange different excursions and tours in Fethiye and Oludeniz, you can see them in the Excursions in Fethiye section of our website.

If you have arrived in Fethiye via Dalaman, you may have passed through the small coastal town of Gocek before you reach Calis and Fethiye itself.  A world apart from the main resorts, Gocek holds its secrets of who visits there.  The small coastal town of Gocek is an area of outstanding natural beauty, enclosed by mountains of deep green pines, with its luxuriously simple yacht marina, catering for the rich and famous, as well as the more humble yacht owner.

Such celebrities as Bruce Willis, Tina Turner, Demi Moore and Rod Stewart have  moored their yachts here to partake of the delicious Turkish cuisine and swim these sparkling waters of the Mediterranean.  A favourite haunt of the late Princess Margaret of the UK, the Royal Yacht has often moored here for Prince Charles also.  This is hardly surprising when you discover the beauty of this place with its almost oval shaped harbour and guaranteed peace of mind to its visitors.

Every Sunday the local market has been held for as long as anyone can remember.  Here you can buy all kinds of locally grown fruit and vegetables, herbs and spices, and textiles unique to the area.  With its array of goods and the aroma of fresh herbs and spices, Gocek Market should be on everyones list of things to do while staying in the Fethiye region.

Once you have visited the town and market, you will set sail back to Fethiye, stopping off along the way at one of the beautiful hidden bays, where you may swim in the sea or simply sunbathe with a drink from the ships bar, before your final return to Fethiye harbour.
