Olympos cable car from Belek is offering a scenic cable car ride to the summit of Tahtali Mountain. Reach above the clouds to the 2365 meters.
How would you like to experience a trip to the summit of the mountain of the Ancient Greek Gods? Mount Olympos is both stunning and formidable and awaits the avid explorer to ride the cable cars to the top to witness the stunning views and feel at one with the Gods.
The Olympos Cable Car or Teleferik takes you up to the top of Mount Olympos through the landscape changes that only a height of 2365 metres can give. When you arrive at the Sea to Sky Sub station you may use the Café facilities while you wait for your journey skywards to begin. The ticket kiosk is also situated at the base of the Station. Your journey will be to climb to the highest peak of the mountain of the Beydaglari National Park. The Cable Car itself is a large windowed car with a maximum of 80 people allowed to use at one time. It is a roped cable car built in Switzerland in 1908.
There are many safety rules in situ and they should be followed at all times particularly when boarding or departing the cable car. Once inside and moving the ascent will pass the tree line at around 1900 metres above sea level where the rugged limestone rocks will leave the greenery behind. Looking down you will see the Mediterranean Sea in the distance and looking up you will soon be approaching the snow covered rocks. First snow comes in November and usually lasts until May the following year.
The red and gold Sahara dust brought over by the south east winds in spring time begins to colour the rocks and is said to herald the coming of the summer months. The views of the rocks themselves seem red and white with the effect of the evening lighting at this height and is glorious to see.
