Antalya Demre Myra Kekova Tour

It is impossible to mention the ancient towns of Demre and Myra without mentioning the origins of Santa Claus.  Good old St. Nicholas was actually a historical figure that is recorded as having lived in the area during the Hellenistic Period.  This is the perfect excursion to walk in the footsteps of Father Christmas himself as well as explore all the culture and history that is on offer to you.  Of course this could be considered two trips in one as you will also be treated to a boat ride to the Island of Kekova!

On this tour you will have the opportunity to get up close and personal with ancient Lycian rock tombs as well as see the faces and patterns carved into the old buildings and temples.  You will be able to enter the amphitheatre and take a seat as if sitting down for an old Roman play.  There is a Byzantine Church named after its patron Saint Nicholas that is said to be his final resting place.

From the boat as you near the Island of Kekova you will be able to see the remains of a once thriving harbour town that are no under the water near to its coast.  The turquoise waters of the Mediterranean appear to magnify the columns and even sarcophagi that lay at the bottom of the sea and you will be amazed at how well preserved they are.

Upon arrival back at the harbour you will make a short stop for your midday meal. Lunch will be served as a buffet with a range of options to suit most dietary needs and tastes.

The final destination in your itinerary before returning to Antalya will be the city of Myra.  Largely occupied by the Greeks this city was home to Saint Nicholas himself.    Here you will be able to take a stroll along the cobbled walkways admiring the carvings and signs of yesteryear.
