Belek Demre Myra Kekova tour is a day trip to ancient city of Myra, Lycian rock-cut tombs and church of St. Nicholas in Demre.
Prepare for a history lesson unlike any other. Your tour to the region of Demre and Myra takes you back 1800 years to none other than Saint Nicholas, or Santa Claus himself. This legendary man was born in the town of nearby Patara, to a wealthy family. He became known for his generosity and was found to have put several bags of gold through an open window of one mans house to alleviate his financial ruin.
Ever wondered where the gold coins in your christmas stocking came from? As an older man he became Bishop of Demre, where he provided safety and shelter for women and children. Today many statues testify to his goodness and kind deeds throughout this area. If you didn’t believe in Santa Claus before you visited, you will when you leave.
This tour takes you back to the time of Saint Nicholas and the dawn of Christianity, with its early churches, many now sunken treasures only visible to divers or visitors to the region who catch glimpses of the watery past. Steeped in its very own legends this tour is a must see for anyone who loves true history.

After picking you up from your hotel in Belek, you will travel westerly towards Demre. Your guide will give you greater detail about the Saint and his life, as you walk in the footsteps of one of history’s greatest legends. Then follows a boat ride to the underwater city of Kekova near the current day village of Dolochiste, you will marvel at the shimmering ruins beneath the Meditteranean waves.
When your boat ride ends, you may visit the Anatolian stone centre, again with a little free time to explore the gift shop.
Your last stop will be the antique city of Myra, where you can walk among the existing streets as though time had never marched on. The ancient Roman theatre is also worth a visit as are the Lycian rock tombs above the city. If you are willing to climb up you can even go inside one of them.
This once thriving area is now home to the birds, wildlife and grass that seems to grow from every stone slab. Still something of this legacy lives on and for the discerning tourist, it only takes a little imagination.
From ancient Myra you return to your coach and the last stage of your journey back to your Belek hotel and rest.
Cost of Belek Demre Myra Kekova Tour is 40 € for adults, 20 € for children between age 3 and 7, free for children under 2 years old in 2024.

Anyone who is mobile can enjoy this tour. There is a large amount of walking involved with respite inbetween. Children can marvel at the history of Saint Nicholas, who wore the red robe of the cardinals and the beard essential to his culture and christianity at that time (who knows if it was white or not). You do not need to have any particular religious beliefs to enjoy this tour. If you love the true history this is for you.
Discretion should be used for very young children or anyone who is older and less mobile, as it may prove too much for some.
This tour normally goes out two or three times per week, weather and numbers permitting. You will be advised by your operator of days and pick up times and they will be printed on your ticket.
