In Turkey, the same excursion can carry three different prices. The boat that charges €30 at the harbour becomes €45 at the hotel desk and €70 on a large international booking platform — same boat, same captain, same lunch. Travellers rarely find the operator directly: most don’t have a website, some don’t have a phone line that answers in English, and almost none take online bookings.
We started Book From Locals in 2019 to close that gap. We work directly with the operators, we book in volume, and we sell at the operator’s own rate — or a euro or two above it, which covers running the booking, the confirmations and the team that answers when something goes wrong. Not thirty percent on top.
That’s the whole business. Everything below is how we make it work.

Most tours need no payment at all. You book, we reserve your place with the operator, and you pay on the tour day. No prepayment, no card details, no deposit.
Some tours do need a deposit or full payment in advance — balloon flights and certain boats, where the operator buys your place the moment it’s booked and invoices us whether you arrive or not. Which of the three applies is written on every tour page, before you book, along with the cancellation terms.
The price you book at is the price you pay. Once a booking is confirmed, it cannot be increased. If our costs rise, that’s ours to manage.

Because holidays don’t run on email. If your pickup is late, if the sea turns, if you want to move tomorrow’s tour to Thursday — you need an answer in minutes, not a reply the next working day.
Twelve people work on the ground here, and they answer in English, German, Russian and Turkish, from your first question until you’re back at your hotel. Read our reviews and you’ll notice something: travellers name them. Hayat, Nadia, Olga, Yulia, Üzeyir, Dilek. That’s not a support queue — those are the people who booked your day and who you can message when it matters.
A tour page should describe the day you’ll actually have, not the day that sells best. So ours state the timings, the vehicle, the inclusions, the exclusions, and the parts travellers don’t like — including shop stops on routes that have them, with their length and a plain note that buying is never an obligation.
When a page has been wrong, we’ve fixed the page — and said so publicly in our replies on Trustpilot. Reviews are not a marketing surface for us; they’re where we find out what our own descriptions got wrong.
bookfromlocals.com is operated by Eksen Turistik Yatırımlar, a licensed member of TÜRSAB (Association of Turkish Travel Agencies) under the agency name Beşem Turizm, licence No. 4278 — which means every booking made through our platform is backed by a fully licensed Turkish travel agency. Our office is in Marmaris; our tours run from the Aegean and Mediterranean coasts to Cappadocia, the Greek islands and Tenerife.
On partner platforms our listings may appear under our company name, Eksen Touristic Investments — it is the same company.
Write to info@bookfromlocals.com with your voucher number. Complaints are answered within 48 hours. We keep our booking records and message history, and we read them before we reply — where we were at fault we say so, and where an operator failed to deliver what we sold, we take it up with them. We have ended relationships with operators over exactly that.
