Fire of Anatolia from Side

  Last Updated: April 19, 2024

Fire of Anatolia from Side is a day out for lovers of dance & esthetic. Musical performances take place in Aspendos – one of the largest ancient amphitheatres in the world. The theatre’s performances are historical compositions. Fire of Anatolia tours all over the world, but the amphitheatre in Aspendos (Gloria Aspendos Arena) is its home, and we recommend seeing the shows there, where the atmosphere sets us in the right frame of mind.

The theatre group Fire of Anatolia presents two shows in their programme. The first, with bright national costumes and folk dancing, introduces the culture of Turkey and its neighbouring countries. It’s called “Fire of Anatolia” and the theatre itself is named after it. The second is called Troy and is dedicated to the events of the Trojan War. It is based on Homer’s poem The Iliad.

Both shows are colourful and evocative. Please indicate which show you would like to see when booking (the days of the tour vary depending on the show selected, so we recommend booking in advance).

The price of the tour includes both transfers (from and to the hotel), a ticket to the show and dinner.

Originally named sultans of the Dance, Fire of Anatolia has become somewhat of a national treasure.  The Fire of Anatolia is a group consisting of around 120 dancers and they employ the best producers and directors  to create the most spectacular of shows rooted in the culture and history of the country.  They regularly tour all across Turkey bringing their performances to all four corners of the nation.

Since the construction of the Gloria Aspendos Arena in 2008, Fire of Anatolia now have residency here and perform throughout the summer evenings in this purpose built amphitheatre.  It is located just 30 kilometres from Side, allowing guests in the area to make an easy journey to visit and see on e of the famous performances.  The theatre boasts tiered seating and has a number of bars and restaurants inside for the convenience of guests.

The show itself is a feast for the eyes and you will be enchanted by the costumes, lights and extremely energetic dance moves.  Each dance represents a tale in the history or culture of Turkey and tells a story that you watch unfold much like a ballet.  In fact the dancers are often ballet trained and there is a rigorous selection process that they must go through to become a member of this esteemed group.

You will witness gravity defying leaps and moves so fast you may not even be able to catch them all.  Did you know the Fire of Anatolia group has made it into the Guinness Book of World Records, by dancing over 240 steps per minute?  There are two shows available each week and they are both pretty spectacular.  If you don’t have time to see both you certainly shouldn’t miss the chance to see them at least once on your holiday!
