Kusadasi Pamukkale tour is an amazing day trip to visit hot springs of Pamukkale, walk on the travertines and to visit Hierapolis ancient city.
While you are here – why not take a tour to one of the most beautiful and unique sites you will find in the known world! Pamukkale translates into English as Cotton Castle and it could not be a more accurate description. The calcified waters have poured out from below the ground, cascading down the gentle mountainside, to form the magical ice-like rock pools that give the town its name. It only appears to be like ice though. To actually walk on the travertines is non slippery. Indeed you are only allowed to walk barefoot on your climb to the top, that is, no footwear whatsoever. This is the reason why the pool formations are so white, and the only place on earth where you can see this geological wonder.
More surprisingly is once you have climbed to the top, marvelled at the vast distance the eye can see, and enjoyed a dip in the calcified rock pools, you come across the antique city of Hierapolis. The ruined city has, for centuries, been a pilgrimage for those inflicted with ailments such as arthritis and rheumatism, It is home to Cleopatra’s Pool, where the great beauty was said to bathe in the heated spa waters. The pool has been well preserved over the centuries and is available for you to swim at a small cost. With a heat of around 35 degrees centigrade, the allegedly healing waters are the equivalent to a hot bath, and a feeling of wellbeing ensues when you have finished your time here. Where else can you bathe like a Queen.
Hierapolis, itself stretches a few miles for the avid explorer to see, with ancient theatres and streets and a fairly famous Necropolis. History records that the apostle Saint Philip lived here, teaching Christianity, was martyred for his attempts, and was then buried in this once thriving city.

Cost of Kusadasi Pamukkale Tour is 85 € for adults, 55 € for children between age 4 and 7, free for children at and under 3 years old in 2026.

Anyone with walking difficulties should give this tour a miss. In the same way, younger family members may not appreciate the walking involved or the bus journey from Kusadasi.
For those who can walk without difficulty, this is an easy tour to do, and older children enjoy the travertines and the rock pools along the way.
The rocks are surprisingly easy to walk along. The chalky substance makes it easy and non slippery. In the same way the rocks are soft and not sharp at all. At one time tourists were allowed to wear some footwear but this caused vast discoloration of the area, so footwear became banned here.
The only time it would be slippery is if you see green algae in the waters or around the pools. Take care with this.
Once you reach the lush gardens at the top and the hidden city of Hierapolis you may wear your footwear again.
Not necessarily. While you are making the ascent to the antique city your coach driver will take the roadway to the car park on the top of the mountain, near to Hierapolis.
Most definitely your swimsuit, towel, sun cream and sunglasses along with a sunhat and comfortable footwear for the walk through Hierapolis.
Bring your camera of course, the breathtaking views at the top of the travertines will make you wish you had.
Do take some money with you. Not just for drinks (it is recommended to take a bottle of water to remain dehydrated) but for those optional extras such as souvenirs or DVDs to remind you of your day, and of course, for that chance to swim in the same thermal spring waters as Cleopatra.
