About this experience

Kusadasi Ephesus half-day tour is a 5-hour excursion to the ancient ruins of Ephesus, and the Temple of Artemis.

With its close proximity to Kusadasi, the ancient city of Ephesus, the second largest city of the Roman Empire, is easy to do in half a day. If 8 hours seems like a long time, or if you have young family members who will tire from a whole day tour, this is an exciting alternative to suit everyone. During Roman times the sea came directly to the port of ancient Ephesus. The Roman port has long since silted up, and it is not really known why this grand metropolis of the Roman Empire faded into the history books, and what a history it has.

Mentioned several times in the Christian Bible, visited by no less a figure than the apostle St Paul, who was actually thrown out of Ephesus for overzealous behaviour. St John who wrote the Biblical book of Revelation ended his days at the Basilica named after him, a handful of kilometres from Ephesus and was sure to have been a regular visitor to the ancient streets of this site. And if you are interested, according to the Bible, the same St John was given the care of the Virgin Mary by Jesus himself! After the crucifixion she came to Ephesus and ended her days in his care, a few miles outside the ancient site. If that has whetted your appetite, your guide will have plenty more to tell you about this UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Is there anything else I ought to know before I go?

If there are children travelling in your group you should bring their passports along with your own. This is because children of school age receive discounted entry tickets, but proof of age must be shown on entry. You should bring your passport with you as well if you are travelling anywhere out of resort. Officials may ask to see it, or they may not. It is always better to come prepared.
