Whilst it may be hard to tear yourself away from the magical city of Istanbul you most definitely will not regret taking two days out of the city to see the natural wonder at Pamukkale and the historical spa resort of Hierapolis. Pamukkale is perhaps one of the most photographed natural formations in all of Turkey and you are sure to have seen the white calcium deposits that appear to have melted down the hillside creating fantastical travertines filled with thermal waters.
With 2 days at Pamukkale to explore the region you will have more than enough time to opt in for the extra hot air balloon ride that whilst popular at places such as Cappadocia is equally as breathtaking as you glide over the natural pools and white contrasting cascades of Pamukkale.
You will be able to comfortably explore all that Hierapolis and Pamukkale has to offer as you wake up in Pamukkale ready to spend a full day in view of the stunning snow white cascades. Your guide will be with you to take you through the more interesting ruins in Hierapolis including temples and amphitheatres before heading towards the necropolis where you will find some of the best preserved sarcophagi in the region.

You will leave your Istanbul hotel just after lunch in order to make your flight from Istanbul to Denizli. Your ticket includes transfers to and from both airports in a luxury transfer vehicle. After a flight of around 1 hour you will land in Denizli airport where your guide and hotel transfer will be waiting to show you to your accommodation for the night. After check in you will have the evening free to stroll around the modern town located at the foot of the travertines.
There is a lake at the bottom filled with ducks and geese, a perfect place for an evening stroll. Your accommodation for the evening will boast a thermal pool where you are welcome to take a dip before you head off to bed ready to start the next day of your trip fresh and energetic.
Day 2
After a hearty breakfast at the hotel you will check out and meet with your guide. You will then head towards the travertines where you will commence your fully guided tour of Hierapolis, the Necropolis and the travertines themselves. There is a centre for rest within the walls of Hierapolis where you may pay a small extra fee to bathe in the pool used by Cleopatra herself on one of her many visits to this ancient spa resort. You may explore the historical site further and encounter the supposed ‘gateway to Hell’ which is actually an ancient temple where dangerous gases accumulate. This is of course only able to be observed at a distance for your own safety.
Once you have fully explored the area and built up an appetite you will make one last stop for lunch before heading back to the airport to catch your return flight to Istanbul. Upon arriving in Istanbul your transfer driver will be waiting for you in arrivals ready to return you safely to your Istanbul hotel.
