Istanbul Agva Day Trip

  Last Updated: February 17, 2024

While Istanbul is a fascinating city that is easy to get wrapped up in, there are also so many fantastic places to visit in the vicinity.  Agva is just one of those places and is located along the coast of the Black Sea just a few hours’ drive away.  The tranquillity of the area will make a stark contrast to the lights and sounds of the city.  This is a great way to swap tram way for waterway and the sounds of marketers for the sounds of birds calling.   This excursion will immerse you in nature and leave you wanting to explore more of the Black Sea Region.

Agva is a small fishing village that boasts flowing waterways and thick green forests as well as a 2.5 kilometre long beach.  The village is fast becoming popular with city folk wishing to escape to a cooler and more peaceful environment and it’s not hard to see why they often choose Agva.

On this day out you will experience a river ride among the reeds, racing waterfowl as you meander along with the river.  The wildlife is plentiful at the water’s edge and you should expect to see ducks, geese and much more.  You will see how the local fishermen and women live and be welcomed by the famous Turkish hospitality as you wander the streets.

Agva is an important town historically as it sits near to the point where the Black Sea meets the Bosphorous and it has been occupied by Byzantines and Romans before modern day Greeks and ultimately the Turkish people.

This is a tour that will allow you to find peace and quiet and the journey alone is breathtaking with the coastal drive.  All in all this is a day out that you are sure to thoroughly enjoy!
