Something a little different on your tour itinerary is a visit to the Salt Lake, or Tuz Gölü as it is known in Turkish. This lake of outstanding beauty produces over 300,000 tonnes of salt every year. With its white shores and beautiful landscape, it is a pleasure to visit and walk along. As part of this itinerary it is available to tourists today. Visitors to the Salt Lake usually come here for the good air and its potential health giving properties. For s far as the eye can see the waters stretch out in front of you bringing a sense of white cleanliness to mind as they are rich in salt and other minerals.
The tour is coupled with another stop, that of Tatlarin underground city where you will be able to travel to the subterranean layers of the city and discover for yourself how life was for the people who dwelled there. Your local guide will be on hand throughout to give you plenty of information about the ways of life below the surface and how the people once lived here.
At around a two hour drive from Cappadocia, this excursion is a great way to travel a little further afield and see some different landscapes on offer within the vicinity. On your return journey you will stop at a typical Kervanseray or traveller’s rest stop and receive a complimentary glass of Turkish tea in true Turkish style, reiterating how hospitable the people here really are.
