There are many wondrous sites to visit all over Turkey and around Antalya.  This tour combines two of those places, Salda Lake and Pamukkale. This tour should perhaps be nicknamed the ‘white’ tour as both places off you stunning scenery dominated by the stark whites, be it white sands or white waterfalls. This is a chance to combine two unforgettable places that will be imprinted in your memory for years to come.

Salda Lake is a huge lake that was formed inside a volcanic crater and has depths close to 200 metres in parts. Upon a visit to the Lake you would be forgiven for thinking that you have teleported to the Seychelles as its white beaches are reminiscent of more tropical climates.

The white ‘sands’ are actually due to deposits of hydromagnesite which are found in the area due to historical volcanic activity. It is thought that the waters of the Lake are of benefit to people with some skin ailments and is often visited as a place of healing.

Pamukkale almost needs no explanation, as it is one of the most photographed places in Turkey and is world famous! Of course, you will automatically think of the snow white travertines that were formed by calcium deposits and dot the hillside with shallow thermal pools. It is also the site of the historical city of Hierapolis built on the thermal waters for their healing properties.

Pamukkale was a spa town and historically attracted visitors from all over much as it does today! Local legend has it that Cleopatra herself once bathed in the warm waters of Pamukkale and there is a pool named after her that is dotted with fallen columns and remnants of Hierapolis.
